Video Games Getting Gayer?

August 31, 2009

I stumbled across this article from “Not always my favorite LGBT magazine” The Advocate today, and I thought it was interesting enough to post here.  The article talks about games like Fable 2 (which allowed you to marry and court people of the same sex) and Persona 4 which had a gay storyline, and also [...]

OMGee it's a grind!!111one!!

August 30, 2009

Lots of people have been returning to WoW lately, even if just for a month.  In comments on various blog posts I keep seeing “OMG, but WoW is just a grind.  It’s a treadmill, it’s the same as it always has been.”
One thing I love about MMOs is that they really are what you make [...]

Serious business.

August 27, 2009

Is it just me or are some people taking MMO blogging way too seriously lately?
I enjoy blogging when I have time and something to say.  I don’t really care who reads it.  I don’t care too much about who comments on it, I’m happy I wrote it even if I get zero comments.  I don’t [...]

SL: Creamshop

August 25, 2009

One thing that is awesome (and probably equally as frustrating) about Second Life is how many shops there are.  A shopowner looking to make money in Second Life has to do quite a bit in order to stand out, whether it’s through hard work designing their land or heavy promotion or running contests to gain [...]

Cataclysm: Not following the beaten path

August 23, 2009

With Blizzcon going on, the blogs have been a-buzz with news of the latest announced WoW expansion, Cataclysm.  Like most others, I’ve been clinging to the Twitter #blizzcon hash tag and the live stream listening to all of the news about my favorite MMO.
I am incredibly stoked about the expansion.  Here is why:
Finally, stepping out [...]

Cataclysm

August 17, 2009

The internet is ablaze with WoW Cataclysm expansion spoilers.  A common sentiment is “If this is true, I’m totally coming back for it!” and I’m just blogging to say that I’m in that same boat.  I do still play WoW, but I am having problems knowing what to do when I log in. I love [...]

Fantasy Gamebooks Coming to the iPhone

August 13, 2009

This is neat.
Today Melbourne-based developer, Tin Man Games, announced plans to release a library of fantasy adventure gamebooks for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The library will initially consist of three original adventures, the first being Siege of the Necromancer, and readers will be able to grow their collection as new books are released.
Before starting their [...]

Blue Mars

August 11, 2009

I  just got a closed beta invite to Blue Mars, which is labeled as a “next generation virtual world.”  It sounds like it will appeal to people who enjoy Second Life and other 3D virtual spaces.  There are some key differences with Second Life though:

The UGC component appears to lean toward professional content developers rather [...]

Negative Skin

August 11, 2009

I just finally got around to watching the Second Skin documentary, which is currently available in full on Hulu.  I’ve been looking forward to this for awhile, as most documentaries about online gaming have been focused around the older games like UO and EQ – and I knew this one mostly focused on WoW and [...]

Goblins, heck yes!

August 10, 2009

In this possibly-rumored or maybe confirmed by perhaps trustworthy sources article at WoW.com the next playable races in the upcoming WoW expansion are Goblin (Horde) and Worgen (Alliance).   All I can say, is this is freaking awesome.  Goblins are the best!
I’ve been playing a little bit of WoW lately.  The new changes in Patch 3.2 [...]
