November 27, 2009

After a lot of prep, planning, and organization – The Border House is now up and running!  This blog, spearheaded by myself, Brinstar from Acid for Blood, and Alex from While !Finished – is a progressive, liberal, feminist gaming/virtual world and social media blog.
“The Border House” is a reference to Funcom’s point-and-click adventure game, The [...]

What Does EQ2 Do Better than WoW?

November 26, 2009

Syp from Bio Break has challenged us bloggers to name 5 things that are better in Everquest II than they are in WoW.  I say….only 5?  There are TONS of things better.  Here we go.
Player Housing:
This is easy, because WoW plain doesn’t have it.  And it’s GOOD in EQ2.  It’s a very big part of [...]

Happy 5 Year Anniversary, WoW!

November 23, 2009

Man, I can’t believe it’s been 5 whole years since World of Warcraft launched to the world, and even longer than that since I started playing it in beta!  Say what you will about the game, it has been a major impact on the MMO game industry since it exploded onto computers everywhere.  It has [...]

Congratulations to the Stonewall Family!

November 20, 2009

WoW.com has chosen LGBT guild (or rather, family of guilds), “The Stonewall Family” to be November’s Guild of the Month.  Woohoo!  The Stonewall Family are a “sister guild” to my WoW guild “Taint” which are also on Proudmoore (the unofficial LGBT server).  They also consist of multiple guilds because they grew too big for Blizzard’s [...]

Transgender Day of Remembrance in Metaplace

November 20, 2009

Today, November 20th, is the International Transgender Day of Remembrance.  It’s the day for silent vigils, for dedicating a candle in memory of all of the people who have been murdered simply because of their gender identity.  Because someone wasn’t comfortable in their presence.  Because someone didn’t understand about gender spectrums and the desire to [...]

Looking for guest bloggers and contributors

November 11, 2009

I have been thinking a lot lately about the void in blogging to really target some issues that I think are glazed over in other game journalism.  I’m talking gay issues, alternative culture, transgender issues, feminism, politics, equality, etc. and how they relate to video games, online worlds, and social media.  I have been attempting [...]

Evony – now featuring porn stars

November 10, 2009

As seen on Negative Gamer, Evony are up to their disgusting advertising still.  Granted, these girls weren’t exactly in porn, they are just stock photos that happen to have also been used in porn.  Nonetheless, ugh.

They sure do know how to draw attention to themselves, however I wouldn’t be caught dead playing this game.

Pro-Rape Facebook group shut down

November 10, 2009

I’m a bit late on reporting this one, but apparently a group of students from the all-male St. Paul’s College at Sydney University created a “Define Statutory” Facebook group with the goal being to promote pro-rape culture.  Facebook allowed this public group to exist on Facebook for months before it was finally removed.
The site, which [...]
