Metaplace is hiring a game designer/programmer!

by Cuppycake on March 15, 2010

If you love Facebook games and would love to make your own, we want you at Metaplace!  We are hiring a game designer/programmer who plays lots of Facebook games, analyzes them, understands why they’re successful, reads Inside Social Games and other social games industry sites, doesn’t hate Farmville, knows what DAU/MAU means, and generally kicks ass.  We’re working on some fantastic social games and want to add someone (preferably local to San Diego) who is looking to join a startup making Facebook games.  You must be a good programmer, and knowledge of Lua is a bonus but not required.

Details:

Who are we?

Metaplace is a fast-paced startup developing next-gen Facebook games with hundreds of thousands of monthly active users. We’re a venture funded company in beautiful San Diego, and our investors share our vision of high quality games brought to the Facebook audience. Our core team includes veteran game developers (Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, EverQuest 2), and veteran web developers (MP3.com, Divx).

We are currently hiring a Game Designer / Programmer at our headquarters in San Diego.

Who are you?

You love social games. Not only are you level 40 in Farmville, but you’ve played dozens of Facebook games and can talk about why the best are the best. You’re a programmer, probably with a programming degree, and maybe even with game development experience. You’ve wanted to work on social games, or maybe even tried building a few on your own. You learn quickly, including new languages (like Lua) and new processes (like metric driven development).

A match made in heaven! Now what?

Now, you apply to come work for us! You write a cover letter telling us about the Facebook games you play and why you love them. And you send us a resume that talks about what a great programmer you are and how swiftly you can learn new things. Only apply if you love these games and desperately want to make them for a living!

Apply by sending a resume here.

hmm, I’m definitely born in the wrong country. 3,000 miles seems a bit far to beat the traffic and wife doesn’t seem to be open to the idea of moving …

Any chance for a Montreal studio? :-)
