That is absolutely addictive and entrancing that just keeps me coming back. Along with EQ2, it is the only game that I have never let my subscription lapse since November of 2004. Even though I’ve gone months without logging in, it’s always there waiting for in case I need my ‘fix’.
And, that time has come again.
Longtime readers of my blog might remember that I’ve been working on leveling up a druid since almost 2004. She’s had several names, and has jumped from several servers. From Ambellina of Ner’Zhul to Psymetry of Destromath – she is now Pawtopsy of Malfurion. I’m playing now with not only my boyfriend but also several more of my good friends – and it feels like home already. Pawtopsy is a level 43 Tauren druid who has graduated out of being a 39 WSG twink to hopefully pausing to be a 49 pvp twink.
Few comments from my experience returning to WoW so far:
- Ho-boy quest XP! I am leveling like a madwoman without even trying. I’m really appreciating the leveling changes from a couple patches ago; it’s awesome.
- Mudsprocket quests in Dustwallow – just finished them. A nice addition to help me through the late 30’s and early 40’s – I’m glad for it. Now I think they just need to boost the amount of horde quests in Swamp of Sorrows.
- Addon mania. I’m an addict of the TomTom/Lightheaded duo of add-ons. I’m also a worshiper of Auctioneer.
- All the changes to the honor system are great. In one day of a few hours playing, I managed to earn the required marks and honor points to get myself a pair of epic quality bracers from the WSG vendor. There are also several other things I could use that will be an easy achievement. I like that =)
So far, my plan is to level up relatively casually. I want to hang out at the end of the 40-49 bracket and run BGs, earning the things I can use now but mostly stockpiling points for use at 60 and 70. I need to buy my level 40 mount, although I’m reluctant because the Tauren mount is ugly and I prefer to use my cheetah form at all times. Anyway, if anyone else is on Malfurion, feel free to give Pawtopsy a /whisper to say hello!

I understand what you are saying. I might or might not have gone back with a few friends last week and started playing again. While I have had my sub turned on and off over the years I really do appreciate the leveling changes. Having to grind in the 50’s is what turned me off my last time around.

WoW has flaws, sure. But damned if it isn’t fun…
Don’t trust Radar… the eating of kittens and small anemic children is just so distasteful.
However, there’s definitely something to that stupid game… it took all the strength I could muster to hold off until this long. Thanks Jeebus there are only a few weeks left until Conan launches. I’d rather stay off of WoW until I can level to 80. Though the new leveling changes are very nice indeed.
That’s if AoC doesn’t get delayed again!

WoW can be very comfortable.
Not much point in a druid getting the level 40 mount. It’s not that much faster than travel form so you don’t have a huge need for the mount compared to a warrior or rogue. You could just skip to the level 60 one of your choice thanks to honor badge mounts.
