I was so excited to log on last night and start out Inscription, and encountered one of the worst patches I’ve ever experienced. Granted, it’s one of the biggest patches probably in MMO history (and a complicated one at that) but I was so irritated last night with the problems.
First, I couldn’t log in for hours and I was stuck on either “Retrieving Character List” or stuck on the loading screen. When I finally did get in, I had so much lag in Orgrimmar that I couldn’t even do any inscription aside from milling 5 stacks of herbs. I decided to try to go to Undercity, so I hopped on the zeppelin and tried to go over there. I fell through the Zeppelin out into the sea (anyone remember when this used to happen constantly back in 2004?) and then Kalimdor promptly shut down and has been down since last night around 9pm Pacific. Luke was playing on Eastern Kingdoms fine last night and I couldn’t get on =(
Anyway, I was eager to get my Inscription maxed but I guess it’s not going to happen like I thought. I can’t help but wonder just how complicated a task it was to do a patch that had no real test environment since the PTR contains ALL of WotLK and they were just migrating SOME of it to live servers. I’m have no doubt they did internal testing, but it seems like the load of all the players combined with things like the achievement system calculating achievements just caused for chaos. Anyway, maybe tonight will be better – but considering Kalimdor is still down and I can’t even log in – I’m just going to wait a while.
