Embracing Change

by Cuppycake on October 28, 2008

Just to play copycat with Michael and Scott -

I am also voting for change and checking the Obama box on my ballot.

Sorry Mom and Dad – I’m finally making a decision on my own based on issues and personal beliefs rather than voting Republican because everyone else in Minnesota did.  In addition, I’m voting a loud NO on Proposition 8 in support of equality for same-sex relationships, a loud YES on Prop 2 for the farm animals, and a NO on Prop 4 for abortion and minors.

Looking forward to my vote mattering this year.

(Additional note – I do have a disclaimer here saying this blog doesn’t reflect my company.  I can say what I want here, and it is not representative of who I work for.  This is my personal blog, don’t read it if you’re going to be offended by my viewpoints).

Interesting, thanks for stating your opinion.

I’ll be voting exactly the opposite on the items that you mention.

Wait, Josh – are you really voting AGAINST the farm animals prop?

I haven’t heard a compelling argument from anyone on that prop yet. “No, don’t do that. Baby cows should be forced to stand their entire lives and never lie down.” I’m genuinely interested in hearing someone argue that one :)

I’m really sad that the l337 prop didn’t make it.

I don’t live in California, but I think if Prop 8 passed, it would make me physically ill.

I understand what the word “Change” means, but does it mean “Better” as well. I can change the channel from HBO to “The Paint Drying” Channel, but that doesn’t mean it’s a better choice.

I’m just not a Democrat fan. I feel they love to give money out without figuring a way to get money back, and then when the Republican’s try to get money back for the good of the country, people yell “More Taxes”

But as long as you feel that you have gotten all the info you need to make an educated decision and you feel you have decided on a candidate that you could live with if he was elected to office, then I say more power to you sister. I just like people who ride the wave just because everyone else is.

And I know my favorite blogger isn’t. lol

Werit -

Because I’m not in the mood to start a political debate. Just wanted to state what I’m voting for. I don’t think I have to state why :)

I don’t like either canidate. I wanted Rudy running. I wish people would decide for themself who they want to vote for, not the media, journalists, or random blogs.

I really don’t care who you vote for. Thats your decision not mine. People don’t need to explain why they are voting for someone.

I also don’t believe you can make a post like this without it turning political. There are a few things you should never talk to people about and one of them is politics.

i can not fathom why people are against gay marriage. honestly, the meaningless arguments against it disgust me. why the fuck care who people want to be with?

also, homosex is in nature and humanities history. so…this shit aint’ new.

Ah, I got it… Just like all the other cool kids you don’t have a clue, BUT want to be part of the supposed (!) mass movement, eh? Right on…

You know, I guess I’d act just like you, if I was you. I wouldn’t want to be the fat one left out. I understand it’s hard enough…

Regardless of presidential choice-

I’m from CO, where they tried to pass *in favor of* same-sex equality last election, and that failed. So CA already has the equality, and folks put a note on the ballot to try and get it removed?

I’m not that learned in terms of law and politics, but is there any kind of statute of limitations on things like this? Or (let’s unfortunately say prop 8 passes) won’t those in favor of same-sex equality just put a new proposition on the next ballot? A la political ping-pong?

I am voting the opposite…. he is every bit a socialist and health care, and the economy will suffer from it once he is president. This nation was founded on free trade and the Democrats stand to disrupt the very core values this nation lives by…..

@RJ – I wish people would stop calling Obama a socialist. Believe me he is not a socialist. Because someone in the media calls it socialism doesn’t make it true. You want socialism talk to Brian Moore. The presidential candidate for the Socialist Party.

But the definition of socialism in the American media is interesting. It is not ok for Obama to want health care, but it is ok to buy back mortgages and pass a 850 billion dollar bail out. That sounds like Socialism to me based on the definition that is in the media atm.

::hugs:: Good for you. And I’ll be doing likewise, as an informed voter who cares about equality, reproductive rights, and animals. :]

Man, if only we were actually Socialist. We’ve currently got all the negatives and none of the perks. But hey, it’s America. Don’t question what we’re doing so long as you can keep believing in the fantasy that we’ll all be millionaires and movie stars.
